Stanford Seed has selected Oorja as one of the disrupting companies for its wide range of innovative solutions offering. We are thrilled to be part of this program as it helps us leverage Stanford’s vast expertise in business execution and expansion which its network brings to us.
Oorja was represented by Mr. Madhusudhan Rao at the CII Green Power 2017 organised in Chennai. Mr. Madhusudhan was one of the panelist offering his thoughts and the work done by Oorja in the field of Biomass and Solar Thermal.
Mr. Madhusudhan talked about multiple potential Solar Thermal provides in the area of Rural electrification and Hydrogen fuel production, along with Industrial process heat and space heating/cooling solutions.
Solar Thermal can be used together in a hybridized power plant that can operate 365 days. This also solves the problem of low Plant Load Factor (PLF) that plagues the Biomass power projects.
Mr. Madhusudhan also discussed the importance of energy storage in delivering both heating and power solutions using Solar Thermal technologies.
He shared with the audience details of some of the innovative solutions Oorja has executed recently.
Confederation of Indian Industries’ (CII) GreenCo rating is one of its kind in the world . The 6th edition of the Annual GreenCo Summit was held in Pune, India from 21st – 23rd June, 2017
Oorja Energy participated in the event as a supporter of GreenCo rating and exhibited the products and solutions we had to offer.
There was a great interest from different industry sectors in the solutions we had to offer. Some of the solutions that attracted interest of many were:
– Solar Paint Shop Drying System
– Solar Sludge Drying System
– Shopfloor Cooling using Radiant Cooling Panels
Team Oorja participated in ACREX 2017 – South Asia’s largest Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Exhibition at New Delhi between 23-25 February 2017. Oorja launched it newest product – Graphite based Radiant Cooling Panels. Graphite based radiant cooling panels offer higher output and better aesthetics required for implementing panel based radiant cooling solutions for offices.
With the launch of the new graphite based panels, Oorja now offers two options for radiant panels:
1. Extruded Aluminium Panel with Copper Pipes
2. Graphite based Panel with Copper Pipes
Both products received enthusiastic response from the visitors at the exhibition.
“The two entrepreneurs — Oorja Energy Engineering Pvt Ltd and Boond Engineering Services Pvt Ltd — have been conferred with WWF-India’s Climate Solver award under the GHG Reduction and Energy Access category, respectively,” a WWF statement said.
Climate Solver is a global innovation platform that encourages innovations in technology and business models that contribute towards mitigating climate change and enhancing energy access through their economic growth.
WWF’s Climate Solver platform first began in Sweden in 2008 and has now expanded to China, South Africa and India.
“Climate Solver platform complements the efforts by the government to provide momentum to the innovation ecosystem in the country.
“Through this platform, we have been showcasing some of the best innovations emerging from the SME sector that are scalable and have tremendous scope for mitigating carbon emissions and enhancing energy access to people living in remote and rural areas,” said Ravi Singh CEO, WWF-India.
Speaking at the event, Stefan Henningsson, Senior Adviser, Climate Innovation, WWF, Sweden, said that though there is a relatively high public research and development expenditure in the Indian market, one cannot see as many Indian cleantech entrepreneurs being listed on the stock market.
“Thus, the need for expansion finance for our Indian entrepreneurs is an issue of Indian competitiveness as well as the global emissions reduction,” he said.
Oorja Energy Eng’g made an impactful presentation about its Solar Concentrator technology at a recent event organised by UNIDO, CII and MNRE at Pune on 24th June, 2016. The event was attended by nearly 200 representatives from various industries in Pune and details of ways to integrate Solar Concentrators into different industrial processes were discussed along with economic feasibility.

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) runs a Global Cleantech Innovation Programme in India in association with world’s largest clean technology accelerator (Cleantech Open USA) under the aegis of the ministry of MSME. Oorja Energy Eng’g has been shortlisted as one of the semi-finalists in the program under ‘Energy Efficiency’ category for our Radiant Cooling technology.
The program recently conducted a 2-day National Academy in New Delhi to kick start the accelerator program. It was participated by all selected companies, their mentors, trainers from Cleantech Open and officials from UNIDO, MSME, NDRC and AEEE. There were great takeaways from the event and the company is actively engaged in learning to scale up through the accelerator program culminating in the final event in San Fransisco in February 2016.
Oorja was awarded Order of Merit and Smart Technology 2015 in three projects:
1. Food Processing Using Solar Heat
2. Solar Waste Water Management
3. Energy Efficient Radiant Cooling for Buildings
